Tiger Walk Cycle

Assignment: Tiger Walk Cycle 4/13/17 (ignore the instant replay that pops up on the screen, that was imovie working against me) For this assignment we finally got to do an animal walk cycle which I have been very excited to do. The rig was somewhat hard to work with and it was kind of a shock over how many different controllers there were, but it was also very fun to play around with. This assignment really showed me just how important referencing is because of how unique every animal is from each other. Every animal walks and moves very differently and getting those tiny mannerisms correct is what makes a very convincing animation. If I had more time for this assignment I would have tried to do a little more work on the way the head moves because I think it sways back and forth a little too much.

Weight

Assignment: Weight 3/30/2017 For this assignment we were required to convey weight while having a character lift up an object. I found this assignment to be one of the most enjoyable because I felt like once I got the general idea of how to convey weight, it all came together and in my personal unprofessional opinion it was quite convincing. If i had more time for this project I would probably focus on adding some more arch to the back and have the character hold the bolder a little more over his body. This project was also our first experience with constraints which was a bit of a struggle for me at first but I think I've started to get the hang of it.

Run Cycle

Assignment: Run Cycle 3/8/17 For this assignment we were required to create an animation of a run cycle that continues in a loop. The idea is generally the same as doing a walk cycle although the speed, poses, and curves are slightly altered. The hardest part of this assignment for me personally was getting the timing of the arm swing right. If i turned this assignment in again I would try to speed up the back swing of the arm a tad more as that seems to be how most people run.

Jump

Assignment: Jump 2/14/2017 For this assignment we were required to animate a character jumping up in the air and landing. One of the most important aspects of this animation was anticipation. The character would have to have an anticipation pose before they were about to lift off of the ground so that they didn't just float up effortlessly. They would also have to anticipate the landing and/or brace for the impact of their feet to the ground and then absorb their weight as they landed. For this project one of the most difficult aspects for me was timing. I struggled to have the character in the air for an appropriate amount of time to where it didn't just seem like they were floating for too long. Other than that, the arms are the only other thing that seemed to be a little tricky in terms of when they shoot up in the air and when they fall back down after the impact of the landing.
